PAVAN KUMAR

Hi, I'm Pavan Kumar, a Senior Product Manager at Google Labs, where I'm building a first-of-its-kind product that leverages the latest in multimodal Generative AI to make knowledge universally accessible. I collaborate closely with teams across Google, including Google DeepMind, YouTube, and Workspace, to bring cutting-edge AI to products used by millions globally. I've also shaped the ML strategy for products like Project Starline and Google Meet, focusing on applied AI experiences, data, partnerships, performance, and ensuring fairness in AI.

Before my current focus on applied AI, I helped build supercomputing (HPC/ML) products at Google Cloud, which power some of the most demanding workloads on the planet. I've always been passionate about building products from "Zero to One" – taking an idea from its inception to launch and growth. This passion led me to co-found Cocoon Cam, where we developed the world's first computer vision-based baby monitor capable of detecting vital signs without physical contact. I also co-founded Chrysalis Cloud, a platform designed to empower developers to create innovative video-based products.

I'm driven by the belief that AI, particularly multimodal generative AI, can revolutionize not just how we use technology, but also how we learn, create, and solve some of the world's most pressing challenges. Over the years, I've had the incredible opportunity to share my work and passion for technology at renowned events, including presenting at the first-ever White House Demo Day hosted by President Obama – a truly unforgettable experience – and delivering the guest commencement address at UC San Diego's master's graduation ceremony.

• Shipping AI Products: I have a proven track record of building impactful AI products. My experience includes developing award-winning AI for remote health monitoring with Cocoon Cam, significantly enhancing video quality and meeting productivity in Google Meet through advanced generative models, and shaping ML strategy for Project Starline. I'm also deeply familiar with establishing ML strategies around data acquisition, performance optimization, and ensuring fairness.
• Zero to One Development: I thrive in environments where I can take an idea from its initial spark to widespread adoption. Whether it's co-founding a startup from day zero or being the first PM on a new products at Google, I have deleoped deep expertise in navigating the complexities of Zero to One product development. For me, "One" means driving significant impact, whether that's hundreds of millions of users or generating substantial revenue.
• Product Strategy: I excel at executing effective product strategies across diverse product lifecycles. I'm adept at employing lean startup methodologies to identify target users, define core value propositions, and iterate rapidly to build a minimum viable product. I'm equally comfortable scaling products to reach hundreds of millions of users or achieve significant revenue milestones. I have experience with securing funding and buy-in for products, including managing OKRs, doing market analysis, and financial modeling.
